Sporobolus heterolepis, commonly called Prairie Dropseed, is prairie grass native to North America. This perennial has narrow thread-like blades that add soft texture to the landscape, and is often planted en masse as ground cover. Thin arching stems produce pinkish-brown flowers above the foliage thru late summer. Prairie Dropseed is a deeply rooted plant, making it heat and drought tolerant.
