Capsicum annum, commonly called Jalapeno Pepper, is an iconic hot pepper that ripens from red to green and can be enjoyed a variety of ways. Start seeds indoors 8 weeks before the last frost and transplant outdoors to a sunny location after the soil has warmed. Peppers germinate best in warm soil, providing gentle bottom heat will encourage sprouts to emerge.
