Ocimum basilicum, commonly called Genovese Basil, is a classic kitchen herb prized for its large aromatic foliage that will sweeten up any dish. Use fresh or chop and freeze to use later! Sow seeds outdoors 1/8" deep and 4-6" apart in well-draining soil after temperatures stay above 65°F. For a constant supply, sow seeds successively throughout the growing season. To keep plants from bolting and maintain their sweet flavor, make sure to pinch back flower stalks as they appear.
