Solanuim melongena, commonly called Diamond Eggplant, is disease resistant plant loved for its excellent texture and flavor. Clusters of four to six 9" long dark-purple fruits are produced earlier than other varieties of eggplant. Soak seeds to encourage germination then sow seeds 1/4" deep indoors 6-9 weeks before the last frost. Providing gentle bottom heat will help seeds sprout. Transplant seedlings outdoors after the soil has warmed in a sunny location.
