
Brassica napus, commonly known as Red Russian Kale or Ragged Jack, is one of the hardiest and most tender of kale varieties originating in Siberia. Frilly purple-veined, blue-green leaves have a mildly sweet flavor and will tolerate temperatures as low as -10°. Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks early, transplanting outdoors 24" apart just before the last frost in a sunny location.
