Allium schoenoprasum, commonly known as Chives, is a fragrant perennial herb with slender onion-flavored foliage that can be enjoyed fresh or cooked. Fluffy lavender-pink blooms make this herb an excellent choice for edible and ornamental gardens alike. Start seeds indoors four to six weeks before the last frost and transplant outdoors 4-8" apart as soon as soil becomes workable in spring. Plants will self sow and can be easily divided in spring or fall.
