Melothria scabra, commonly known as Mexican Sour Gherkin Cucumber, is an attractive bright green climber that bears an abundance of small 1" watermelon-like fruits. Eat them right off the vine for a sweet cucumber flavor. Direct sow 6-8 seeds outdoors in 12" diameter hills after the last frost when the soil has warmed. Make sure to keep soil consistently moist but not soggy. Provide support for vines to climb, looks excellent on trellis or arbor.
