Commonly known as Philodendron Hope, Tree Philodendron, and Philodendron Selloum, this actually isn't a Philodendron at all! Through DNA testing this plant was reclassified in 2018 as Thaumatophyllum Bipinnatifidum. Unlike Philodendrons, this upright growing plant forms a trunk with aerial roots to help anchor it down, and will lose lower leaves as it grows. Indoors this plant will stay more compact, and will grow large leaves up to 5 feet tall outside or with enough light!
Prefers a well lit area with bright light, and will appreciate some morning sunshine. Water regularly, allowing the soil to dry slightly between. These plants are prone to over-watering, so don't let it sit in soggy soil! Rotate your plant periodically to ensure even growth on all sides. These large leaves are dust collectors so remember to wipe them clean with a damp cloth every now and then for optimum photosynthesis! Fertilize regularly during growing season.
